Envato Market is English-based, and all reviewers use the English version of After Effects. So when you decide to use expressions within an After Effects item, we require all expressions to be written in English and any non-English expressions must be universalized.
Envato Market attracts buyers from all different parts of the world and speak different languages.
Whenever an After Effects project that uses English expressions is opened within After Effects that’s set to a different native language, the expressions will break and cause errors.
Buyers may find themselves unable to use the item correctly. This could result in extra support issues or negative item ratings and reviews.
For this reason we encourage all authors who are using expressions to “universalize” the expressions, before uploading your item to VideoHive. It’s important to ensure your item will work seamlessly for as many buyers as possible.
Universalizing your expressions will allow buyers to customize and work with your After Effects projects in their own native language.
To universalize your expressions, you need to use a tool called ExpressionUniversalizer 2. The beauty of this tool is, that with a few simple clicks, it takes all the expressions from your project and converts them to a universal language.
This means you can write your expressions in English, run the ExpressionUniversalizer 2 script, then your project can be opened in any language version of After Effects and the expressions will work correctly.
If your item uses universal expressions, be sure to let buyers know by selecting “Yes” on the “Universal Expressions” attribute when uploading your item.
