Value Added Tax (VAT/НДС) is a tax imposed by the Russian Government on sales of certain goods and services purchased by a Russian end-consumer. This tax extends to non-resident suppliers of digital services.
Envato is registered for VAT in Russia and charges VAT to buyers resident in Russia from 16 November 2020.

What rate of tax is applied?
The rate of tax applied to your purchase will be a flat rate of 20%.
Does VAT apply to all items bought from Russia?
No. VAT applies to all components of purchases including item support. There are however some exclusions from VAT where the Author of the digital item purchase is also a Russian resident or the Author is a non-resident individual.
What if I am registered for VAT in Russia?
VAT is applied to individuals and businesses/companies alike since a change in law was introduced on 1 January 2019. Envato will issue Russian customers with compliant VAT invoices to ensure that they can declare the purchase on their VAT return and claim a tax adjustment for any VAT charged.
